On, Saturday, June 21, The Orleans Improvement Association (OIA) held their 26th Garden Tour. As they have in previous years, Orleans’s homeowners graciously opened their beautiful and diverse gardens to over six hundred (600) ticket holders. It was our biggest and best event yet and the Cape Codder's Stephanie Foster featured the tour with creative and fantastic coverage.
The success of the OIA Garden Tour is so dependent on the support of and collaboration with Orleans homeowners, Town departments, sponsors, local galleries and businesses, volunteers and dedicated OIA Board members. Tickets were sold by Snow’s Home and Garden, Agway of Orleans and Friend’s Marketplace. The Nauset Regional Middle School supplied lemonade and was the new location for the pickup and sale of day of tickets.
There was such an air of festivity this year created by the artists and musicians who generously volunteered their time. Artists associated with Orleans’s Galleries painted in all the gardens. Their art was featured at the receptions each gallery held following the tour. Artists included: Janet Gilmore and Mary Giamarino from the Elizabeth Rowley Gallery, Maryalice Eizenberg, David Burns, and Susan Overstreet from the Addison Gallery and Rosalie Nadeau representing The Left Bank Gallery. Musicians included: Sue Keller, Tim Sweeney & Randy Patterson, the Kingsbury String Ensemble, Rowan Cornell and Nicole O’Leary & Isabelle Eastman.
